Created to document the colorful history of this institution - from it's beginning as a State prison to its current redevelopment plans under Dover Knolls Development. Each specific section contains additional pages of information and images regarding your choice. Colors have been used to help visually separate these three different periods in time quickly in the "recent updates" section, although colors will not be used on images other then the ones on this page. Hudson Heritage Park Welcome to Hudson Heritage Park; a new addition to HarlemValley.org - created to document the redevelopment of the former Hudson River State Hospital (HRSH). Recently construction crews have been seen clearing brush from around the main building (a national historic landmark) and also making repairs to damaged sections of the roof. Like the redevelopment of Harlem Valley State Hospital, the redevelopment of HRSH is both challenging and unique. Check here often for the most up to date information regarding Hudson Heritage Park. Note: Hudson Heritage Park will be moved to a brand new website within the next month; the new website will solely feature information on the former Hudson River State Hospital; past - present & future. Help Save Danvers State Hospital | On behalf of John Archer: The Danvers State Hospital site is set to be sold to AvalonBay next month (September) in spite of AvalonBay promising to preserve only one third of the magnificent, monumental, historic Kirkbride Building. The Danvers Preservation Fund, Inc. is still fighting to preserve the Kirkbride and needs your help.
